The enigmatic progeny of two of the greatest American cyclists in history, Taylor Phinney’s career as a professional bike racer was always going to come with a degree of pressure. Rising to the occasion, Phinney retired in 2019 a three time Olympian, triple national champion in the time trial, Giro d’Italia stage winner, and twice track world champion in the individual pursuit.
A glittering palmares by anybody’s standards, perhaps Phinney’s greatest achievement was his arduous suffering and magical comeback to cycling after a nearly career ending crash in 2014 - testament to his work ethic, determination, and spirit. Whether it was crushing time trials, dominating on the track, or attacking on the cobblestones of Europe’s toughest classics, there’s no doubt that Taylor Phinney is one of the all time greats of the sport.
It’s not just his speed and power that make him stand out. Known for his creative spirit, easy-going attitude, and a deep love for the sport that goes beyond racing.
